Top Ten Must-See Movies for Any Generation
As some of you may know, I watch two lovely kiddos during the week on a part time basis and the four year old I care for gets a half hour of T.V. time every day. So naturally I am always overjoyed when he throws on a show that I used to watch as a kid. It always takes me back to the good old days, when my only worry in the world was if I could record latest episode of “The Rugrats” on my VHS player. I would literally sit on the couch in a panic until my mom ran in with a blank tape. Ah to be a kid again. The other day I simply could not conceal my elation when my four-year-old NK (nanny kid) made his own conscious decision to put on “The Magic School Bus,” another one of my all time favorites. That is when I came to the realization that there should be an ongoing list of classic kids movies that should NEVER go out of style. Because when my NK told me he had never seen “The Lion King,” I just about shed a tear.
I’ve decided to ask everyone I know about what their favorite movie was growing up so that I could start said list and so that no child may be deprived of the joy that these movies can bring. My results are as follows:
The Sound of Music
Because not only is Julie Andrews a goddess, but this movie is just pure talent.
I had never seen this until recently myself until somebody just had to change that.
Robin Williams just kills it, as he always does.
The Wizard of Oz
Because it teaches kids to have courage, a heart and to use their brain.
The Never Ending Story
Maybe just fast forward through the part with the quicksand because, well, we still get upset thinking about it.
Again, Julie Andrews just rocks and well, it’s a movie about a singing, flying nanny.
The Little Rascals
It teaches the importance of an education.
Just a great feel good movie!
Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Because the aesthetics of this movie are awesome and makes us want to eat the screen.
Basically any Disney movie
Let’s face it, Disney just does it best.
It took me a while to narrow down this list to just ten, since there are just so many classics out there. I wrote it in hopes that these movies never get lost in the future generations to come, because everyone can appreciate these all time favorites!
